Ashley Wiechman, Associate Attorney

Ashley Wiechman brings more than 14 years of legal experience to her family law practice. Ashley is the only family law attorney at Wiechman Law Office and represents clients in divorce, parentage, child custody, parenting time, child support, and Protection from Abuse and Protection from Stalking cases. Ashley’s practice is focused on helping clients move through difficult family transitions with professionalism, strategy, and care.

Ashley understands that family law cases are deeply personal and often involve the most important parts of a client’s life:  their children, finances, home, and future. Ashley believes that, when possible, families are best served by resolving disputes outside of court through thoughtful negotiation and practical agreements. When agreement is not possible, she is fully prepared to advocate strongly for her clients in court.

Ashley also understands the family law process from a personal perspective. Having experienced divorce and post-divorce litigation herself, she appreciates the emotional, financial, and practical stress these cases can place on clients and their families. That perspective informs her commitment to giving clients clear advice, realistic expectations, and steady advocacy during difficult transitions.

Ashley is also a trained mediator, certified by the Office of Judicial Administration of the Kansas Supreme Court. She provides mediation, domestic conciliation, and parent coordination services. Her alternative dispute resolution background allows her to help clients pursue practical solutions when possible while remaining prepared to litigate when necessary.

Before entering private practice, Ashley served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, where she gained significant courtroom experience. That background continues to shape her preparation, attention to detail, and ability to advocate effectively in contested matters.

Ashley earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2011, where she also received a Certificate of Advocacy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Kansas where she was a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society.

In 2024, Ashley became trained to practice Collaborative Family Law, which is a way of handling family law cases without court involvement. Without court involvement, these cases can be a lot less stressful.
